How to Reset Internet Explorer 5.x Settings

  • Delete Cookies and Temporary Internet Files as follows:
    1. In the Internet Explorer click Tools/Internet Options
    2. In the dialog box that appears select "General" tab:



    3. Click Delete Files. When you are prompted to delete all temporary Internet files, click OK.
    4. Select Settings.



    5. Click View Files.
    6. On the View menu in the window that opens, click Details.
    7. Click the Internet Address column header, and then find the Internet addresses of the cookie files. For example, a cookie Internet address may be named like this:
      Cookie:username@websitename.com



    8. Click a cookie file, and then press the DELETE key. If you are prompted to confirm that you want to delete the file, click Yes. Repeat this step for each cookie file.

  • Restore security settings as follows:
    1. In the Internet Explorer click Tools/Internet Options
    2. In the dialog box that appears select "Security" tab:



    3. Click Internet and then click Default Level button
